🏔️ Where Is Nuwara Eliya?

Located in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, about 1,868 meters (6,128 ft) above sea level, Nuwara Eliya is the highest town on the island. It’s a 5–6 hour drive from Colombo, but the winding roads and breathtaking views make every minute of the journey worth it.

🌧️ A Memory from Pathum – Tea, Rain & a Warm Smile

One of my favorite memories in Nuwara Eliya happened completely by accident. I was caught in a sudden rainstorm near Gregory Lake without an umbrella. I rushed into a tiny roadside tea shop — more like a shed, really — run by an old gentleman with the kindest eyes.

He offered me a hot cup of plain tea, and let me sit by the little wood stove as the rain poured outside. We didn’t talk much, just nodded, smiled, and watched the mist roll in.

It reminded me how simple things — a warm drink, shelter from the rain, and a stranger's kindness — can become your favorite moments.

That’s the magic of Nuwara Eliya. You go for the views but remember the feelings.
